Dean Vladimir Lavrentyevich Sivkov Associate professor, Candidate of Science (Engineering)

The Sormovo Evening Faculty of the Gorky Polytechnic Institute has been established in 1953 under initiative of the industrial enterprises located in the Lower Part City Districts (beyond the river of Oka) of Nizhny Novgorod. Since 1953 about 3000 highly qualified specialists in manufacturing engineering and economics have graduated from the Faculty, among them are Directors, chief specialists and process engineers of many industrial enterprises.

The most prominent graduates of the Faculty are the former factory Directors V. D. Maksimenko, Ye. G. Voskresensky, V. M. Pomolov.

About 400 students study at present at the Faculty in part-time (evening) and correspondence modes of study. The future specialists are trained in close cooperation with the biggest industrial enterprises "Nizhegorodsky Mashinostroitelny Zavod" ("The Nizhny Novgorod Engineering Plant") and "Nizhegorodsky Aviatsionny Zavod "Sokol"" ("The Nizhny Novgorod Aircraft Factory "Sokol"). Chief specialists, chief designers and process engineers of the said enterprises are invited to deliver lectures for students. There have been concluded the mutually beneficial contracts with the factories providing for development of the training activities.

30 Departments of NNSTU provide teaching activities at the Sormovo Evening Faculty. In total 95 teachers work at the Faculty. The lectures are delivered by experienced and highly qualified teaching staff of Technical University. Chief specialists, chief designers and process engineers of the OAO "Nizhegorodsky Mashinostroitelny Zavod" (Open JSC "The Nizhny Novgorod Engineering Plant"), OAO "Nizhegorodsky Aviatsionny Zavod "Sokol"" (Open JSC "The Nizhny Novgorod Aircraft Factory "Sokol"), OAO "Zavod "Krasnoe Sormovo"" (Open JSC Red Sormovo Shipyard), OAO RUMO (Open JSC RUMO) and other enterprises.

The laboratory research is carried out at the NNSTU training buildings at the address: 24, uliza Minina, in the laboratories of the correspondent Departments. The laboratory and training facilities meet the requirements of the taught subjects and are sufficient for execution of full-scale laboratory research.

The Faculty possesses its own library providing the students with the literature necessary for all subjects taught.
