The Institute of Manufacturing Engineering Technologies (IPTM) was established on basis of Faculty of Automation and Technology of Manufacturing engineering (FAM) in December 2006.
Faculty of Automation and Technology of Manufacturing engineering had been established in 1898 as the Mechanical Department of the Russian-language Warsaw Polytechnic Institute.
Since 1917 it became the Mechanical Faculty of the Nizhny Novgorod Polytechnical Institute.
In 1982 the Mechanical Faculty was reorganized and became the Faculty of Automation and Technology of Manufacturing engineering (FAM).
The Institute of Manufacturing Engineering Technologies (IPTM) currently trains about 1500 students, Masters and postgraduate students. There work 150 members of teaching staff including Doctors of Engineering and Candidates of Science (Engineering), Honored Workers of Science and Technology of Russian Federation. The Institute possesses university laboratories in 4 buildings of NNSTU and at the branches of the Departments in the machine-building enterprises of the city and Nizhny Novgorod region and also one of the biggest NNSTU's data-processing computer centers equipped with modern facilities.
From the first year on all the students of the Faculty get the in-depth computer-based training.
The graduates of the Institute become specialists capable of developing the whole production chain of all the manufacturing engineering programs: from design to production.
